Welcome to Dead Wheat!

For years now, I’ve had in the back of my mind this idea of networking an online community of people who are serving, helping and empowering underprivileged people.  People who’ve been willing to leave the lives they’ve known and their comfortable environments to serve others in a different culture, maybe in a different country. People who’ve chosen to put the best interest of others above their own . . . That is what “Dead Wheat” is all about.

I derived the name “Dead Wheat” from something Christ (a.k.a. Jesus, Yeshua and Messiah) is reported to have said in the bible (Gospel of John 12:24).

The truth is, a kernel of wheat must be planted in the soil. Unless it dies it will be alone—a single seed. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

He goes on to say if we stay focused on our own interests that we’ll not only miss eternity, but the entire point of this life.  Then he offers an invitation and a promise.  Let go of our selfish interests for the sake of others and follow his leading; and our lives will be blessed beyond our imagination.  This site is offered as an open source to all those living out this idea.

The purpose of this site is multifaceted.  To encourage and inspire each other as we choose to use our lives to write compelling stories of hope and change.  To be a central location for friends and family to stay current with the stories we are part of.  To maintain a “wiki” data bank of helps in many forms for use around the world.

If you are out there serving the underprivileged somewhere, contact us and tell us about your work.  We’ll be able to add you to the site and eventually be a connecting point world wide.

Godspeed,
